Jennifer Myka: Fiber Artist and Nature Enthusiast, Integrating Science, Art, and Farm Life
Jennifer Myka, a fiber artist with deep roots in biology and farm life, brings her expertise and passion for natural fibers to life in every piece she creates. After over 15 years of raising Suri alpacas, Angora goats, and Teeswater sheep on her beloved Free Radical Ranch, Jennifer has transitioned from farm management to full-time fiber art creation and instruction. Her unique artistic journey blends a lifelong love for biology and a deep connection to animals with the tactile beauty of fiber arts.
Jennifer’s work is a reflection of her integration of science, nature, and creativity, using natural fibers to capture the essence of the living world. She specializes in transforming hand-spun yarns and hand-dyed fibers into one-of-a-kind fabric art pieces, inspired by the textures, forms, and vibrant colors of the natural world.
In her workshops, including “Top It Off: Fiber & Feather Hat Flair” and the “Wool & Whimsy: Sew Your Sheep Scene,” Jennifer guides participants in exploring fiber techniques while sharing the joy of working with natural materials. Her “Fabulous Fiber Flower” needle-felting class brings fiber art to life through intricate, textural creations that invite students to embrace their own creative process.
Through her teaching, Jennifer seeks to inspire others to engage with the rich world of fiber arts, drawing from her personal experiences as a farmer, biologist, and artist. Her goal is to help each participant find their unique creative voice, while celebrating the beauty and individuality of natural materials.
