Instructor: Amy Shelton of SPARKLE Studio
Time of Class: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 23
Sentro circular knitting machines are now all the rage! These Sentro really speed up your ability to crank out a large number of hats, scarves, fingerless mitts, and cute animals and other stuffies in record time. You can even use them to make sweaters! If you need to make a large number of items for charity or for sale, a Sentro is the way to go. A Sentro is also a great way for older kids to make fun gifts for all their friends,
While free patterns abound on the internet, these machines can be a little difficult to use at first. This class will cover all the secrets I’ve discovered to help make knitting on a Sentro fast, easy, fun, and as stress-free as possible.
I’ll cover:
* cast on and cast off
* how to reduce status and why this is important
* how to fix dropped and tuck stitches
* how and when to use waste yarn
* where to find patterns
* seaming techniques (if there’s time)
* choosing good yarns
* working with difficult yarns
You’ll also get to use the Sentro 48-pin circular knitting machine to make a reversible beanie during class!
Some may say this isn’t hand knitting, but even though the machine speeds up the time required to make the stitches, you still have to carefully watch for tucked or dropped stitches so you can fix them as you go!
If you fall in love with the Sentro, you may purchase your machine after class in the SPARKLE Studio booth.
