Learn a technique inspired by antique Japanese Boro textiles. This is a slow stitch, handwork class where you will create a piece to have as art, or to use to make a handbag, needle case, journal/book cover or your own inspired project. The class materials include a kit of hand selected fabrics with many pieces that are antique and vintage Japanese, a couple are also French, needles, pins, basting thread, Sashiko thread, BUT NOT a thimble. I will have some to use but it is best to bring your own personal thimble (any kind you like to use).

About the Instructor:  Tina taught her first quilting/piecing class in 2006.
Since then she has taught sewing, hand quilting, machine quilting, and the maintenance of Featherweight machines.  She has also been selling, repairing, restoring, and conserving vintage and antique quilts for about 20 years. For the last 8 years she has been highly influenced by Japanese Sashiko and Boro.

Tina is not Japanese and her hand work and classes using some of those techniques and ideas are different than traditional Japanese textile works, but inspired by those beautiful textiles.

“My obsession, or love affair, or fascination, or passion, (whichever you want to call it!) started about 32 years ago. I find textiles of all types touch my soul in ways I do not have words for and am so thankful I get to be around them and share them with people.”
