Beginner Spinning on a Spin-e-Kube e-spinner

We will learn the basic parts of a scotch tension e-spinner, how a spinning wheel works, and why. Then we discuss fiber and different plant and animal options for spinning. Basic drafting techniques are discussed. Each student will spin a few ounces of fiber onto two bobbins and then ply them together.

Time of Class: 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday

Skill Level: Students are provided with a machine and tools to use while spinning, as well as an appropriate amount of fiber to spin their first yarn with. Students must be allergen aware as there will be natural fiber, and they must have the ability to use their hands and arms.

Materials Fee: $0

Age Requirements: Class open to students 13 years old and up. No adult accompaniment necessary. Students must be tall enough to reach the drum carders and to treat them with the care both student and carder deserve, and must be able to focus for the duration of the class.
